The Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting is back this year in-person in Washington D.C.! The 101st meeting will be held on January 9 - 13, 2022 and spotlight the theme, Innovating an Equitable, Resilient, Sustainable, and Safe Transportation System. YPT Seattle’s Vice Chair, John Larson-Friend, will take part in the conference as both a first-time attendee and a presenter on two different projects.

On Monday the 10th at 8am, Dr. Anne Brown, Amanda Howell, and John will present their poster project titled “Extending Access: Examining the Prevalence and Types of Equity Requirements in U.S. Bikeshare and E-Scooter Programs”, for which John spent a year gathering data on every bikeshare and e-scooter share program in the country and what equity requirements were required by cities and counties.

On Wednesday the 12th at 8am, Dr. Marc Schlossberg, several colleagues from the University of Oregon, and John will present on their book, Rethinking Streets During COVID-19. The session, titled “Planning for Street Livability and Beautification in the COVID-19 Era”, will highlight street design and how cities used the pandemic to create safer and more diverse transportation design options.
